Al-Bashir returns home after participation in the African Green Wall Summit in Ndjamena
Khartoum, May 11(SUNA)- President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir returned home Saturday after taking part in the African Great Green Wall Summitwhich held in the Chadian capital, Ndjamena .
He was received at Khartoum Air Port by the First Vice-President of the Republic, Ali Osman Mohammed Taha and a number of Ministers and government officials.
Minister of State at Foreign Ministry, Salah-Eddin Wanasi described in press statements the Summit as important and came as response to climate changes in the region.
He said Sudan could uses the Green Wall Project not only in combating desertification but could also be used as program for fighting poverty as well , stressing that technical and financial support as well political will from the concerned African leaders are needed for implementation of the project.
Wanasi pointed out that the Summit was an opportunity during which President Al-Bashir met with President Debby and discussed bilateral relations and some important regional issues.
Minister of Environment, Forestry and Physical Development, Dr Hassan Abdul-Gadir Hilal said the programs of the Great Green Wall are expected to fight desertification, poverty and unemployment, disclosing that the Summit approved Sudan's proposal on establishment of African Carbon Bank.
