Khartoum, March 17 (SUNA) - The government of Sudan, represented in the Ministry of Energy and Mining, signed an agreement with the Canadian Ghazal Metals Ltd company Wednesday to explore and to exploit gold, copper, zinc, lead and other minerals in block 19, southern to
the area of Dordieb in the Red Sea State
Minister of Energy and Mining, Al Zubair Ahmed Hassan, signed for the Government of Sudan, while director of the company Andrew Yuhon signed for Ghazal Metals Ltd Company, in presence of the Secretary General of the Ministry, Dr. Omer Mohammed Khair and other senior officials at the Ministry of Energy and Mining
The Minister affirmed the ministry's commitment to provide an attractive investment climate convenient for all investors, noting that there are good indicators for existence of gold and other metals in block 16 in Red State. He explained that the ministry is looking forward to enter into big partnerships with international companies working in the field of mining to serve the development, peace and stability in the country
Director of the Canadian company, on his part, affirmed that all the company's resources would be directed to serve the purpose of exploration of minerals from the region, indicating that the company has a presence in many African countries and affirmed that studies have confirmed the existence of metals and that the future is very promising
For his part, Acting Director-General of the General Corporation for Geological Research, Dr. Muhammad Abdul Rahman the company spent 300,000 Euros in the exploration phase, referring to the technical and material capabilities of Gazal Company, which resulted in good indicators of existence of metals
He stressed that the presence of mining projects will help in the development of the region and increase local employment opportunities, saying that the agreement was preceded by (12) agreements on the exploration for gold and minerals in Northern and Eastern Sudan
