Rejecting any Trend to Postpone the ElectionsKhartoum, Mar. 16 (SUNA)- Chairman of Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) - Democratic Change and its candidate for the position of the president of the government of south Sudan, Dr. Lam Akol, has affirmed the rejection of his party to any postponement of the elections
Interviewed by SUNA Tuesday, Dr. Akol said

 that holding of the elections is part of the requirements of the Comprehensive Peace Agreements (CPA) and that disregard to hold the elections in the fixed time is considered a violation of the peace agreement
He said that there no need for postponement of the elections at the final and semi-final stages of the elections, referring to the large funds which were spent and the much efforts which were exerted in the election process
He referred to the expected positive impacts of the elections in boosting the realization of stability country-wide, adding that the call for postponement of the elections is politically-motivated
Dr. Akol said that the elections represents a means for reaching stability and a step forward in the path of democratic transformation and formation of an elected government that derives its legitimacy from the people
He said that the his elections programme for the position of the President of the Government of South Sudan is based on going ahead in implementing the peace project that leads to democratic change and ending the problems relating to the creation of harmony between the state organs
Dr. Akol described the current situation in south Sudan as miserable due to spreading of tribal disputes, cattle looting and the shortages in food at some areas, adding that there is no particular economic development plan being implemented now in south Sudan
He said that his election programme aims to realizing change and reducing the public expenditure in south Sudan
He said that there shall not be any fear from the big number of political parties in Sudan, because the elections will show the real political parties in Sudan
Dr. Akol referred to the failure of the two partners to acquaint the citizens with the meaning and implication of self-determination, adding that he will set up a multi party committee after his election to the position of the President of Government of South Sudan to inform the citizens with the meaning and dimension of the self-determination
He expressed his expectation that the coming elections will lead to change in the political map and rule in south Sudan , MO/MO
