Khartoum, 14 March, 2010 (SUNA) - The Secretary General of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Ambassador Charles Miang, revealed the need of some areas in the southern states for food, attributing this food shortage to the poor rainfall this year in
addition to some security problems
Ambassador Charles referred in a statement to the press at the ministry Sunday to stability of the security conditions in areas of Jonglei State, adding that the work in linking the southern states with roads will end during this month
Regarding the progress of the elections process in the southern states, Ambassador Charles said that the general election atmosphere there is going on very well
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs announced that the necessary arrangements for holding a reconciliation conference among some tribes in the Jonglei region have been completed, but he said that this process is most likely to be postponed until the end of the elections in next April
Ambassador Charles confirmed the existence of intensive contacts between his ministry and the UNHCR in Juba to provide the necessary humanitarian aid for the needy people in the coming period
