Interviewed by SUNA: Mubarak Al-Fadil Says Most Political Parties Call for Postponement of the Elections

mobarak in a interview withc sunaKhartoum, Mar. 14 (SUNA)- The leader of the Umma Party for Reform and Modernization and its candidate for the presidency of the republic, Mubarak Al-Fadil Al-Mahdi, referred to an emerging call of the majority of the political forces for postponement of the elections till October 31
Interviewed by Sudan News Agency (SUNA), Al-Mahdi said that there are a number of causes for postponement of the elections, which include the need for a healthy and legal and political atmosphere in the country for holding free and fair elections toward achievement of solution for the rule crisis in Sudan, the election problem in south Kordofan and south Sudan
Al-Mahdi said that postponement of the elections

 provide extra time for reaching a peaceful and political solution for Darfur issue
He said the National Election Commission is required to respond to the demands of the political forces which were included in their protest memo. Al-Mahdi said that his election programme comes under the slogan of "toward re-formulation of the Sudanese state" expressed the call for re-foundation of the state and acknowledgement of the mistake which accompanied the establishment of the Sudanese state after the country's independence with regard to the absorption of the religious, cultural and ethnic diversity under a system that for determining a unique Sudanese identity a civil state which is based on citizenship, respect of the religious diversity and the moral heritage of the Sudanese people and establishment of a pluralist democratic, federal and decentralized government system that guarantees the participation in power and fair distribution of wealth
In the field of foreign relations, Al-Mahdi said that Sudan is qualified to create distinguished relations with all countries in the region and the world on the basis of mutual interest and far away in the intervention in the internal affairs of the country
He said that Darfur issue is solvable within the comprehensive solution of the national issues and the representation of the people of Darfur issue in the central government and payment of compensation for the damage resulting from the war
He said that guaranteeing unity between the north and the south shall be reached through adoption of practical steps and giving financial and political concessions, including assignment of 10% of the national income average to fund the rehabilitation and development in south Sudan and to establish a partnership between the north and the south and the foreign companies through which the produced oil is to be marketed and produced as the process of oil exploration and refining is to be expanded
He referred to existence of an option of confederacy between the north and the south besides the options of unity and separation, adding that this option guarantees for the south its independence in the fields of foreign policy , security, and defence as well as maintaining the people and economic relations between the north and the south
