Khartoum, March 14 ,(SUNA) - The National Forests Corporation is due to hold the annual General Conference on National Forests during March 17 -18 at its headquarters in Khartoum, under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic and supervision of the Minister of Agriculture and Forests. An
official source at the National Forests Corporation said in a statement to SUNA that the conference aims to assess the performance of the National Forests Corporation in the past to two decades, well as presenting a prospective vision for the coming 20 years as part of the national 25-year strategic plan. The conference will be attended by number circles at the federal and state levels, specialized scientists and experts in the field of forestry and natural resources and environment representing higher education and research, international organizations and voluntary societies and concerned institutions. The source said that the General Conference of the National Forests Corporation convenes at a critical juncture in the country when the role of forests is recognized globally to address the threats and negative environmental phenomena, a matter which necessitates adoption of clear future policies and visions to boost the progress of the country toward sustainable development.
