Khartoum, Mar. 11 (SUNA) - The leader of the Umma Party and its candidate for the presidency of the Republic, Saddiq Al-Mahdi, said that the committee for solidarity between the candidates would discuss in its meeting Friday formulation of a common
vision pertinent to fairness of the election process and preventing it from any confrontations that could harm the democratic transformation in the country
Interviewed by Sudan News Agency (SUNA) Thursday, Al-Mahdi said that a meeting will be held Thursday to prepare for the summit of the leaders of the political parties which participated at Juba conference toward adopting a united stance concerning the current level of fairness and reviewing the possibility of coordination between the candidates
He stressed the necessity of soon decision of the national consensus group on the elections and the nomination
Al-Mahdi said that he invited all leaders of the political parties, including the candidate of the National Congress, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, to take part at the meeting of the summit of the leaders of the political parties
Saddiq Al-Mahdi defended his called for postponement of the elections, and refused linking between holding of the elections and the referendum, indicating that the appointment of leaders of Darfur movements is now ruled out and considered unfeasible for the movements
He acknowledged prevalence of an atmosphere of freedom currently, warning from collapse of this state of freedom, a matter that would lead to confrontations and reducing the level of participation in the elections or rejection of its results
