Khartoum, March 11 (SUNA) - The National Election Commission on Thursday reaffirmed its independence and neutrality, stressing that it is not leaning to any specific political party but rather concerned with the fairness and the transparency of the elections
In its reply to the memorandum of protest submitted
by the political parties on the fourth of March, the commission has said that with regards to the relations of the commission to the political parties and to the candidates, it thanks those who submitted the memorandum of protest for their appreciation for the efforts exerted by the commission in implementing the steps in the election process at the past stages
The commission said it shares with political parties the realization that all sides concerned should cooperate for the success of the elections as a reconciliation mechanism for the stability and for the real democratic transformation in the country, matter the commission remained keen to achieve and to sustain among the parties to the election process, on the understanding that citizens should exercise their full rights in these elections
The commission has stressed in its response to the memorandum of the political parties and the candidates that it remains committed to the law and the regulations and that many a case and many a proofs substantiated this claim
It said the circular issued by the commission on the organization of the election campaigns is aimed to prepare the political scenes for secure and organized election campaigns
