Foreign Ministry Summons UNAMID Deputy Commander and Conveys Government Concern over the Mission's Behaviour

Khartoum, Mar. 10 (SUNA)- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Wednesday summoned Deputy Commander of the UNAMID forces for Darfur, Mohamed Younis, and conveyed to him the government concern over the behavior of the UNAMID forces in Darfur and its movements without giving regard to advices of the Armed Forces
The acting Undersecretary of the Ministry

of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dr. Haidar Haj Al-Siddiq, asked for clarification from the Deputy Commander of the UNAMID Forces as well as investigation in the issue and formation of a joint fact-finding committee of the government and the UNAMID mission in this regard
In a statement to SUNA, Ambassador Dr. Al-Siddiq said that the government demanded replacement of the Nigerian battalion with another one, adding that the UNAMID pledged to respond to this call within 24 hours
Ambassador Dr. Al-Siddiq expressed the government regret over this incident which came in a time when the peace process started to progress forward after the signing of the cease-fire agreement by the government and the Justice and Equality Movement
It is to be recalled that a Nigerian battalion of the UNAMID was ambushed lately by rebel forces of Abdul-Wahid Mohamed Nour at Kara area in Jebel Marra who confiscated the cars, weapons, military equipments and communication set of the UNAMID force
The Armed Forces earlier advised the UNMID forces not to conduct this path
