Khartoum, 10 March (SUNA) - The Ministers of Environment of the Regional Authority for Conservation of the Environment at the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden announced their keenness to implement the Declaration of Djibouti on adaptation to the impacts of climate change as well as exerting more efforts to implement the executive procedures to cope with these effects as stated
in the Declaration.
This came in the Declaration of Khartoum issued by the 13th ministerial meeting of the Regional Commission for Conservation of the Environment at Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, which was held Wednesday at Fateh Hotel under the auspices of Vice - President, Ali Osman Mohamed Taha, in presence of the Assistant of the President, Musa Mohamed Ahmed.
The Declaration Khartoum also affirmed the determination of the Ministers of Environment of the member states to speed up the ratification of the Protocol on Regional Technical cooperation as a real support to the Member States for combating oil pollution and other harmful substances.
The declaration also supports the efforts being made by the Authority to declare the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden as an area of special cooperation with the International Maritime Organization.
At the conclusion of the Declaration, the ministers and heads of delegations expressed their sincere gratitude to the Vice President, Ali Osman Mohamed Taha, for his sponsorship to the session and the Assistant of the President, Musa Mohamed Ahmed, for addressing the opening session of the Ministerial Council.
