agreed with a specialized consultancy group to prepare a structural physical plan for Khartoum state including about 1200 services , economic and development projects. Wali of Khartoum state, Abdul Rahman Alkhidir has announced the formation of three mechanisms to guarantee the implementation of the project
The three mechanisms include a national mechanism chaired by the president of the republic and a states mechanism chaired by the wali and a third mechanism to be chaired by the commissioner
He explained that the structural physical planning project will be the basic program to meet the challenges and solve the problems during the period from the years 2008- 2033
He pointed that the challenge will be to implement the project by the right and correct methods
Regarding the implementation plan , Eng. Abdul wahab Osman the minister of Physical Planning and Development said his ministry has already started the implementation plan within the restructuring plan of the ministry and its transformation into corporations and the commencement of transferring the state's units to the sites recommended by the project plan
He explained that the project plan has recommended nine cities at a modern technological standard at the boundaries with the states adjacent to Khartoum state with consideration of the environmental framework
Meanwhile data of the ministry of Physical planning showed that the planning project total cost amounted to 9 billion USD and will be implemented under the motto ( Physical planning for citizens welfare )
His recommendations include the evacuation of the River Nile shores in the three towns from the official institutions and make it shores for the public
The project plan also include great projects in the peripheral parts of the state and some of the adjacent states and the far away states which affect the population migration. The project also aimed at controlling the physical planning development strategy for the coming 25 years and the structure of the population expansion and to connect the major services and restructuring of the entrances and roads to develop Khartoum stated to reach the level of the advanced states and cities of the world. The second regional symposium for cities strategies in the middle east and north Africa which was organized by Khartoum state at Burj Alfatih, and aimed at completing the final stage of the structural project plan of the state , held with the participation of the World Bank , OPEC fund for international development , the Arab institute for cities development, the international cities alliance , the European Union , representatives of the Arab states , the ministry of international cooperation , the ministers of Physical planning in the different states of the Sudan and a number of executives in Khartoum state
The symposium reviewed the experiences of the Arab states
