meeting at the presidential palace Sunday the Patriarch of Alexandria, Pope Theodoros II, the commitment of the state to promote values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence among the various components of the Sudanese society
The Patriarch of Alexandria presented a holy Qumran Book to the President and said in a statement to SUNA that his gift reflects the appreciation of the Coptic community over the patronage of the country's leadership, describing President al-Bashir as an excellent man who deserves to be at the head of the government of Sudan
The Pope Theodoros II, who is visiting the country for the first time, appreciated President Mubarak's concern and support to the Copts in Egypt, pointing out that their history in Egypt goes back to two thousand years ago. MF/MO
