Prof. Gambari: UNAMID Priorities in Current Stage Include the Movement from Keeping of Security to the Stage of Development

Khartoum, Feb. 25 (SUNA)- The special envoy of the United Nations and the African Union for peace in Darfur, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, has announced arrival of 80% of the forces and 72% of the police elements of the UNAMID in Darfur

 

At a celebration held Thursday in Nyala, the

capital of South Darfur, on the arrival of five planes extended by Ethiopia to the UNAMID mission, Prof. Gambari said that the coming stage will witness concentration of efforts supporting the peace process in Darfur and the efforts of the joint mediator, Djibril Bassole, and the movement from the stage of keeping security to the phase of development in Darfur region

 

He described arrival of the five planes extended by Ethiopia as step that will boost the performance of the UNAMID

 

Prof. Gambari pointed out that his priorities in the current stage include bolstering the remarkable progress in the relations between Sudan and Chad and to boost the peace process in Doha for reaching a just and comprehensive peace in the region. MO/MO
