Cairo, Feb. 24 (SUNA)- Egypt has welcomed the framework agreement which was signed Tuesday in Doha between Sudan government and the Justice and Equality Movement on ground that this agreement represents a key reconciliatory step in the right track to put an end for Darfur issue
The spokesman of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussam Zaki, said that
the Foreign Minister, Ahmed Abul-Ghait, hoped that the two parties of the framework agreement will be committed to its implementation
Ambassador Zaki said that the Egyptian Foreign Minister also hoped that the signing of the framework agreement will motivate all the armed and unarmed movements to seize the opportunity and adopt a common vision and position at the negotiations with the government party toward reaching a lasting, comprehensive and just peace agreement that puts an end for Darfur issue, and paves the way for concentration on the development in Darfur
The spokesman of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry appreciated the regional efforts that contributed to convincing the Justice and Equality Movement and other Darfurian armed movements to reach an agreement for realizing security and stability in Darfur
He lauded in this regard the role of Qatar and the international mediation for uniting the Darfurian factions and convincing them to resume the negotiations with Sudan government for reached the aspired peace in Darfur
He underscored the importance of coordination between the regional and international efforts for enhancing the standard of living of the people of Darfur and launching major services and development programmes toward solving the root causes that led to Darfur issue
Meanwhile, Ambassador Zaki pointed out that Egypt will coordinate efforts with Sudan, the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), and the Turkish party to render the Conference for Rehabilitation and Development of Darfur, scheduled to be held in Cairo on March 21, as a forum for gathering support from the international community for boosting the current state of stability in Darfur and implementing the agreements for realizing peace and stability all over Darfur region.
