National campaign to eradicate polio to begin Monday

Khartoum, Feb. 21 (SUNA) - The National campaign to eradicate polio is due to begin Monday in all the states of the Sudan targeting more than 6,600.000 children under the age of five years. The national anti-polio campaign will last for

 three days. The Director of the Extensive Immunization Department at the federal Ministry of Health, Dr. Amani Abdel-Moneim, said in a statement to SUNA that preparations have been completed to launch of the campaign, stating that the current campaign includes all the children of Sudan and coincides with the launching of a number of campaigns in neighboring countries in Africa. Dr. Amani reiterated the readiness of the immunization teams, adding that the Department has mobilized all the possible resources for the success of the campaign. Meanwhile, Director of the Maternal and Child Health Tayeb Ahmed, said that the issues of maternity and children are at the top of the ministry's lists of concern, saying that the implementation of the anti-polio campaign comes as an indicator of the health policies of the state that support the development efforts.
