President Al-Bashir Participates at Mini Summit on Sudan in Addis Ababa

Marshal Omer Al-bashir8 Addis Ababa, Jan. 31 (SUNA) - A mini summit meeting was held Sunday in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa between the President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, the President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma, the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Meles Zenawi, the President of Malawi, Bingu Wa Mutharika.

the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, the Commissioner of the African Union, Jean Ping .In a statement to SUNA, the Presidential Advisor, Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail, said that the mini summit reviewed the situation in Sudan, especially with regard to the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA), the developments in Darfur and the election process .He said that President Al-Bashir has addressed the summit, focusing on the developments in Darfur, the elections in the country, Sudan relations with the international community and the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) .Dr. Ismail Ismail indicated that the summit underscored the positive progress in the situation in Sudan, especially concerning the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) and the situation in Darfur .He said that the mini summit affirmed the support of Africa, the United Nations and the international community for completing the four tracks which were exposed at the summit .He said that the summit also underscored the continuity of cooperation and coordination between the UN Secretary General and the African Union, and that a positive role shall be carried out by the organizations that Sudan is a member in them, especially the United Nations and the African Union .Dr. Ismail pointed out that President Al-Bashir affirmed Sudan government readiness to cooperate with the representatives of the UN Secretary General and Chairman of the African Union Commission to implement the agreed upon four tracks .
