Khartoum stock market has established in cooperation with the Gum Arabic Council an international Gum Arabic stock market at its headquarters , launching the transformation of Gum Arabic marketing from local to international. Dr. Taj Alsir Mustafa explained when signing the agreement on establishing the Gum Arabic stock market recently that this procedure comes within the efforts exerted by the Council , aiming at promoting and developing the Gum Arabic commodity and connecting it with the international markets and transforms it from the manual circulation into the electronic circulation .Also the establishment of this market comes within the aspired plan of the financial stock market represented in expanding its circle of activities which has been approved lately by its Board of directors. Specialists in the sphere of Gum Arabic explained that the agreement stipulates the establishment of Gum Arabic stock markets in the states and enhance the cooperation with the Gum Arabic Council and Khartoum stock market and to propagate for increasing the exportation in the international markets and develop the display methods in the world markets .The officials of Khartoum stock market have affirmed the necessity of making the stock market effective and attractive to investors locally and internationally and to help the state in controlling the smuggling operations of Gum Arabic through the boundary areas and control those who avoid the taxes payment .They believe that the used mechanism must be successful to inform the world by the properties of Gum Arabic of which Sudan's potentials amounts to 80% from the world reserve which qualifies the Sudan to establish such a stock market. On his side, Dr. Kamil Mohamad Showgi, has affirmed in a statement to SUNA that the Council is endeavoring to protect the Gum Arabic commodity and to rehabilitate it as the first defensive line against desert encroachment, draught and environmental degradation due to climate change. He also assured the importance of making plans and policies to realize sustainability of Gum Arabic production and to combat the use of substitutes and encourage the investors to enter the sphere of developing natural Gums industries .For the development of Gum Arabic sector, the ministry of finance pledges to make Sudan retain its pioneering role in exporting Gum Arabic regarding Sudan as the world biggest producer of this commodity .According to the National forest corporation the Gum Arabic belt includes fifth of Sudan total area and covers 11 states where more than five million persons work in it .It is to mention that Sudan new the production of Gum Arabic 6000 years ago , Kurdufan and Darfur are the most producing states of Gum Arabic and contribute by 74% from Sudan production beside the production of the states of the Blue Nile, the white Nile, the Upper Nile and Al-Gadarif.
