Head of the Government Party in Negotiations on Abyei Arbitration Meets International Independent Expert

Khartoum, Jan. 25 (SUNA) - The government has affirmed the government commitment to result of the committee for arbitration on Abyei, which was issued by the Hague-based International Arbitration Committee, on the demarcation of Abyei area and was approved by the National Assembly.

This came when head of the government delegation for the negotiations of Abyei arbitration, Al-Dirdir Mohamed Ahmed, received Monday the International Independent Expert, Mohamed Osman Shadi. Ahmed briefed Shadi on the situation in Abyei and movements of Messairiya and Dinka tribes through the peaceful co-existence. He affirmed that the referendum will be confined only for the population existing at Abyei area. The International Independent Expert would meet on Tuesday the Chief Justice, the Special Prosecutor for crimes in Darfur, the Council of Press and Publication, the National Commission for the Rights of the Non-Muslims and the Commission for Rehabilitation and Development in East Sudan.
