Al-Fasher, Jan. 25 (SUNA)- The Wali (governor) of North Darfur State, Osman Mohamed Yousif Kibir, has affirmed the importance of cooperation and coordination between the government and the joint UN and African Union Mission for Darfur (UNAMID) toward realization of peace and restoration of stability in the region.
This came when Kibir received Monday at his office in Al-Fasher the new representative of the UN and African Union for Darfur Ibrahim Gambari, who arrived in Al-Fasher Monday to assume his office. Kibir affirmed his government support to the new representative of the UN and the African Union for Darfur so that the UNAMID can continue its successes at all fields. He appreciated the support being extended by the UNAMID to the society of Darfur, especially for the recent 21st National School Tournament which was held in Al-Fasher. Meanwhile, the new representative of the UN and African Union, Ibrahim Gambari, praised the efforts being exerted by Sudan government at all levels for realizing rehabilitation, stability and peace in Darfur. He also appreciated the cooperation between the government of North Darfur and UNAMID, emphasizing his commitment to cooperate with all parties for realizing the mission of UNAMID.
