Assistant of the President addresses celebrations on International Day of Women, announces establishment of Fund for Rural Women Development

Khartoum, March 8 (SUNA) - Assistant of the President of the Republic, Dr. Jalal Yousif Al-Degair, the Presidential Advisor, Raja Hassan Khalifa, and the Minister of Social Welfare and Security, Amira Al-Fadail, Thursday attended a celebrations organized by the General Union of Sudanese Women on the occasion of the International Women Day.

The Assistant of the President addressed the celebration, hailing the honourable stances of the Sudanese women in the public life throughout all the historical periods in Sudan.
He highlighted on the social and political roles of women and hailed Hawa Al-Tagtaga who is a model for the patriotic woman and the participation of the Sudanese women in the struggle for the Independence of Sudan.

Dr. Al-Degair announced that the plan of the Presidency of the Republic to sponsor establishment of a Fund for Rural Women Development, in collaboration with the concerned authorities.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Social Welfare and Security, Amira Al-Fadail, addressed the celebration, referring to the establishment of a Council for Micro-Finance, under auspices of the First Vice President of the Republic.
She said that the Central Bank of Sudan has established an institution to encourage the banks to offer microfinance services by 70% for the rural areas and 30% for the women sector.

It is to be noted that the Ministry of Social Welfare and Security and the General Union for Sudanese Women signed an agreement on smart partnership during the celebration the World Women Day.
