Minister of Defence Announces Formation of Joint Technical Committee for Membership of Libya in the Joint Forces

Khartoum, Mar. 7 (SUNA)- The Minister of Defence, Lt. Gen. Abdul-Rahim Mohamed Hussein, has announced the signing an initial agreement for establishing a joint tripartite forces at the borders between Sudan, Chad and Libya and formation of a technical committee to set the arrangements for the work of the joint forces.

Responding to a question of a journalist, Lt. Gen. Hussein said that the joint forces have a special mandate at the joint borders, but is entitled to pursue the rebel movements inside the territories of the two countries.
He referred to existence of measures to reduce the number of the forces of the joint UN and African Union Mission for Darfur (UNAMID).
On the possibility of establishment of joint forces between Sudan and South Sudan State, the Minister of Defence said that non demarcation of the border, the hostile spirit on the side of South Sudan State and the absence of political will is impeding to the establishment of joint forces between Sudan and South Sudan.
Meanwhile, the Commander of the joint Sudanese - Chadian Forces, Col. Fathal-rahman Abdalla Suleiman, said that the success of the joint forces' experiment was attributed to the absence of foreign mediation or international observation.
He said that the joint Sudanese - Chadian forces have carried out more than 5067 monitoring and securing missions at the joint borders.
He said that success of the joint forces experiment has led to entry of the Central African Republic in it.
