Sudan, UNIDO sign cooperation agreement on

Khartoum, April 14 (SUNA) - The Ministry of Industry and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Thursday signed a joint cooperation agreement to implement and upgrade a number of industrial development projects in SudanThe agreement was signed by the Minister of Industry, Dr. Awad Ahmed Al-Jazz, and the Resident Representative of UNIDO in Sudan, Kassahun TesemmaDr. Awad Al-Jazz described the agreement as the first of its kind, explaining that it came in response to the request of the Ministry of Industry to push forward the programme of industrial upgrading and modernizationThe UNIDO Resident Representative in Sudan, Kassahun Tesemma, commended the efforts of the Ministry of Industry to upgrade and develop the industrial commodities, expressed UNIDO's readiness to enhance cooperationThe agreement aims at creating a framework for a strategic cooperation between Sudan and UNIDO in order to impart expertise of other countries to Sudan in the areas of upgrading and implementation of food security projects, textile industry, leather, vegetable oils, fertilizers, manufacturing of agricultural equipments besides attracting funding for these projects in order to create sustainable industrial developmentMF /MABack
