Sudan, Ethiopia, WFP sign Memorandum of Understanding on Sudan's donation of 5000 tons of Sorghum to Ethiopia

Khartoum, Feb. 11 (SUNA) - Sudan, Ethiopia and the World Food Programme (WFP) Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding, according to which Sudan would donate 5000 tons of Sorghum, as the second batch of the gift of President Al-Bashir to the people of Ethiopia

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rahmatullah Mohammed Osman, the Ethiopian Ambassador to Sudan and the Deputy Regional Director of the WFP

Sudan would extend this donation of 5000 tones during this year as the WFP announces its commitment to transport this donation

It is to be noted that last year Sudan also extended some 5000 sorghum of, out of 20000 tons as a donation from the Sudan to Ethiopia. Ambassador Osman said this donation comes as part of the continuous support to support and consolidate the bilateral relations with Ethiopia as well as supporting the regional food security and the joint efforts for realization economic integration

The Ethiopian Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the Sudanese government over this donation and commended the bilateral Sudanese-Ethiopian relations, referring to Sudan's hosting of the biggest waves of Ethiopian refugees during the regime of Mengestu, amounting to 300,000 refugees
