Khartoum, Jan. 3 (SUNA) - The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ali Ahmed Karti, Monday held talks with the visiting Dutch Minister of European Affairs and International Cooperation, Ben Knapen, on the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) and the remaining issues in the agreement, top of which is south Sudan referendum, besides the governmen strategy for solving Darfur issue
The Minister of Foreign Affairs said in a statement to the press that the Netherlands gives great concern to Sudan affairs and that it supports the CPA and offers considerable humanitarian assistance
Karti said that he briefed the Dutch minister on the serious efforts being exerted by the government to finalize the implementation of the remaining items of the CPA as well as the endeavours to conduct a sound and smooth referendum process, calling on the Netherlands to take part in the monitoring of the referendum
Meanwhile, the Dutch Minister said that his talks with the Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs were fruitful, explaining that they focused on the current developments and on the referendum process
The Dutch minister said that he felt the government commitment to carry out the referendum of south Sudan in the fixed time
