Khartoum, Aug. 23 (SUNA)- President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, announced that the government campaign for the referendum will be launched from south Sudan in accordance with the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) which stipulated that the two partners of the agreement shall work for the unity of Sudan
He affirmed the government pledge to provide all the requirements for the campaign and acquainting the southern citizen with the importance of unity and the risks of the separation, stressing that the majority of the southerners are supporting to the unity
Speaking at a Ramadan banquet given Monday by the Coptic Orthodox sect in Khartoum, President Al-Bashir called on the Government of South Sudan (GoSS) to make the referendum free and fair and to enable the southerners to vote in full freedom and transparency
He said that the government has made peace as a strategic factor in all its strategies
President Al-Bashir asserted the state keenness to guarantee the religious co-existence and the freedom of religion for all the people in Sudan, indicating that the Commission for the Rights of Non-Muslims is a witness on the respect of the Christianity
Meanwhile, the Minister of Guidance and Endowments, Dr. Azhari Al-Tigani, called on all the political sectors to adhere to the values of faith and unity. He said that the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) which has ended the war and destruction can never lead to splitting Sudan's unity and return to war
