Khartoum, Aug. 22 (SUNA) - The Secretary of the Organizations Secretariat at the National Congress, Dr. Qotbi Al-Mahdi, has commented on the leaked information of receiving of Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) to 11 military planes by saying that the concern of the SPLM with purchasing weapons in the current period is definitely reflecting its determination to violate the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA)
In a press statement Sunday at the headquarters of the National Congress, Dr. Al-Mahdi said that the SPLM should concentrate its efforts in the current time for solving the food gap and many other problems, including the important issue of the referendum instead of buying tanks and weapons and expending all the wealth that it obtained after the peace agreement for preparing to war
Dr. Al-Mahdi described the call of the Government of South Sudan (GoSS) for a conference on animal wealth, in collaboration with the UAID, in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, as coming in the context of an American project that aims to convince the southerners to vote for separation and luring them that the United States will assume the role of the development in south Sudan
Meanwhile, Dr. Qotbi Al-Mahdi denounced the stance of SANU Party of support to the separation of south Sudan
Commending on a statement issued lately by SANU Party on its support to the cessation, he described SANU as a weak party and has an ineffective role at the political arena
Dr. Al-Mahdi said that SANU Party has lost its way since a long time as its leaders failed to pursue the same line which was drawn by its late founder William Deng and his colleagues who regarded the federal system is the best one, indicating that the current leadership of SANU Party could not go ahead with the vision set by the founders and tended to succumb to the general atmosphere which now prevalent in south Sudan
