Mbeki: South Kordofan Provides Unique Bridge for Unity between North and South SudanKadogli, Aug. 11 (SUNA)- Chairman of the African Union Panel on Darfur and former South African President, Thabo Mbeki, said that South Kordofan with its unique location provides a bridge for the unity between north and south Sudan. During his current visit to South Kordofan State Wednesday, Mbeki said that south Kordofan is providing a model for the co-existence between the north and south Sudan
He appreciated the efforts and cooperation between the citizens of South Kordofan for rehabilitating the areas which were destroyed by the war
Addressing the leaderships of South Kordofan State, Mbeki said that Sudan is facing several challenges, but is capable to surpass all of them eventually. Mbeki stressed the importance of reaching a solution for Darfur issue before the interim period assigned for implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA)
He stressed the importance of the People's Consultation system in South Korodofan and the Blue Nile States
Meanwhile, member of the African Union Panel on Darfur and former Burundian president, Pierre Buyoya, reviewed the experiment of his country in ending the civil war there, calling on the Sudanese people to boost their unity and to build their future through utilization of the tremendous potentialities and the big size of manpower in the country
