Khartoum, Aug. 8 (SUNA) - Vice President of the Republic, Ali Osman Mohamed Taha, has affirmed the keenness to formulation of a national programme for development of palms and dates, adding that the programme will find a wide venue within the programmes sponsored by the government

This came when Taha opened and addressed the Third Festival of the Palms and Dates, in the presence of the Wali (governor) of the Northern State, the Minister of Agriculture in Khartoum State and the Chairman of the Society of Cultivation and Care with Palms, Prof. Ahmed Ali Genaif, besides a number of experts, researchers and palm producers

Taha pointed out that the idea of the celebrations stands on communal exchange for mapping out a social approach for progress and development, stressing that the state will encourage it by all means

He praised the steps adopted by Khartoum State for the development of cellular palm, urging expansion of the scientific field for increasing the palm production
