Khartoum, Aug. 8 (SUNA) - The committee on the follow-up of Darfur file discussed in a meeting held at the Secretariat General of the Council of Ministers Sunday, under chairmanship of the Presidential Advisor and official of Darfur file, Dr. Ghazi Salahuddin, the new strategy on Darfur
The committee reviewed its role in the implementation and reactivation of the plans and programmes emanating from the strategy by concentration on the issues of the citizens of Darfur in the fields of development, services and the refugees and IDPs voluntary return
The committee also tackled the gains achieved during the past period at the level of the improvement of relations with Chad, and reviewed the performance of the joint forces at the borders between Sudan and Chad. The committee also reviewed a report on the visit of President Al-Bashir to Libya
The committee presented recommendations on preparations and formulation of a comprehensive plan for the security of the citizens in Darfur and discussed the development projects in Darfur on which a detailed plan will forwarded to the next meeting of the committee
The meeting also reviewed the incidents at Kalma camp in Nyala, and underscored the importance of providing humanitarian aid to address the situation of the citizens who were attacked by a group of Abdul-Wahid Mohamed Nur, and asserted the government stance on handing over the culprits and disarmament of any armed group inside the camp in coordination with the UNAMID mission
The meeting emphasized availability of conducive circumstances for for reaching a comprehensive political settlement and realizing peace and stability in Darfur
