El-Fasher,August 9 (SUNA) - The United Nations and African Union Mission for Darfur (UNAMID) has renewed its commitment to the agreement that it has concluded with the government on August 5, according to which the two sides will set a joint committee to deal with the issue of Kalma displaced people camp
A press release issued by UNAMID Sunday in El-Fasher said that chairman of the UN and African Union Mission for Darfur, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, affirmed during his meeting with the State Minister at the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Mutrif Siddiq, the readiness and commitment of the UNAMID to
cooperate with the government in a friendly way in order to solve Kalma issue for the sake of justice to the people of Darfur
Professor Gambari pledged that the UNAMID will continue to deal with the Sudanese authorities to solve the issue of weapons inside the camps of the displaced people
The release indicated that the UNAMID decided to increase its night patrols of military and police forces at the camp of Kalma in order to protect the IDPs and to give access to the NGOs and humanitarian agencies so as to deliver assistance to the needy displaced people
