Khartoum, August 2 (SUNA) - Minister of Welfare and Social Security, Amira Al-Fadel has called for increasing child protection budget and for giving priority to child health and education
Dr. Amira described, when she addressed the Eighth Meeting of the Childhood Board of Trustees in the states at Al-Salam Rotana Hotel Monday, organized by the National Council for Children Welfare in collaboration with the UNICIF Organization under slogan "For Child Friendly Budget ",
described the budgets allocated for the institutions on the children protection as small compared to defence and security budgets. She called on the states to follow-up and converting those policies into programmes of action in collaboration with the national and foreign voluntary organizations
The minister said that there is a limitation in services rendered to children with special needs, referring to the great efforts being exerted by the government to improve situations of children in spite of the economic problems, calling upon the state councils to establish pressing groups to work through which to realize the aspired goals
She appealed to the concerned bodies to reactivate the Child Protion Act for the year 2010 since it is considered as a stride towards the solution of the children issues
Meanwhile, the Director General of the Budget at the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, Mustafa Holi affirmed commitment of the ministry with the support of the programmes and activities on the children protection, calling for coordination between the centre and the states for the implementation of the projects and setting of clear and specific budgets in the coming periods as well as implementation mechanisms
