Khartoum, June 17 (SUNA) - President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, has welcomed the newly-appointed ministers and expressed his pleasure over the harmonious set-up of the Government which will contribute to the realization of the development, political and implementation of the socio-economic programmes that would meet the aspirations of the people of the Sudan, who place their utmost confidence on the parties of the government This came in the address of President Al-Bashir Thursday to the first meeting of the National Council of Ministers, in presence of the First
Vice President Gen. Salva Kiir, and the Vice President, Ali Osman Mohammed Taha President Al-Bashir explained that the selection of the ministers was done according to strict criteria based on the ability to promote the performance in top priority aspects, affirming that formation of the government will increase revenues and resources and improve the performance President Al-Bashir urged the ministers to strictly abide by the existing effective finical and administrative regulations and procedures, rationalize public expenditure and to direct the resources for serving the goals and objectives that were agreed upon He stressed the importance of commitment to the approved eight strategies as part of the strategic plan of the state, which would serve as a guide of performance in the next phase President Al-Bashir said that the biggest challenge facing the government is to achieve voluntary national unity and to preserve the unity of the country Meanwhile, the ministers, who represent the political parties, focused in their interventions on strict commitment to the implementation of the programmes agreed upon and to work seriously to realize voluntary unity and a just and lasting peace in Darfur
