New York, June 15 (SUNA)- The Group of African Ambassadors at the United Nations have held a meeting at the premises of African Union mission in New York with the African Union Panel on Darfur, in the presence of the panel's chairman, Thabo Mbeki, the former Nigerian president Abdul-Salam Abu-Bakr, and former President of Burundi, Pierre Buyoya Members of the African Union Panel on Darfur gave a briefing at the meeting on the developments in Darfur issue and the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) The members of the African Group of Ambassadors affirmed at their interventions at the meeting that Africa is not neutral with regard to the issue of Sudan unity, and that the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) itself makes the unity as a constitutional and
political goal They stated that the African Union Panel on Darfur shall work to boost the option on unity on the bases, principles and charters of the African continent. The Group of the African Ambassadors at the UN called on the Sudanese people to benefit from the historic experiments and dedicate efforts for bolstering their unity through a strong support from Africa Meanwhile, Sudan envoy to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdul-Mahmoud Abdul-Halim, appreciated by the end of the meeting the solidarity of Africa with Sudan, affirming that Sudan is always confident that its unity is derived from the unity of Africa and that the solidarity of Africa with Sudan will reinforce its capability to confront the challenges
