Dr. Atabani et le Gén. Gration discutent les questions de Darfour et du référendum

 Khartoum, 18 Août (SUNA)- Le Conseiller Présidentiel, Dr. Ghazi Salahuddine Atabani, s'est réuni mercredi à Khartoum avec l'envoyé spécial américain pour le Soudan, le Gén. Scott Gration, qui est actuellement en visite de plusieurs jours au Soudan

Dans des déclarations de presse à l'issue de la réunion, Dr. Atabani a souligné qu'ils ont débattu deux sujets principaux : le premier concerne les questions du référendum sur l'autodétermination du sud Soudan- prévu en Janvier prochain- et les difficultés de le tenir à la date fixe, alors que le deuxième sujet est la nouvelle stratégie qu'a annoncée le gouvernement pour la résolution de la question de Darfour

Two Abducted Jordanian Peace-Keeping Officers Released

Khartoum, August 17 (SUNA)- The two Jordanian peacekeepers officers,
who were abducted few days ago in South Darfur, were released Tuesday.
In statement to SUNA, the Spokesman of the Armed Forces, Liet Col Al
Sawarmi Khalid Saad, said that a group of the Armed Forces' forces
have traced the kidnappers who have fled when felt that they were in
danger leaving the two hostages who were safely freed .

Coordination between Foreign Ministry and Council of States Discussed

This came when the President met Wednesday at the Friendship Hall the Wali (governor) of the Blue Nile State, Malik Aggar, and reviewed with him the situation in the state and the follow up of the joint meetings

Aggar said in a statement to SUNA that the President affirmed his concern with solution of problems facing the state with especial conentration on peace, security and stability issues

Dr. Nafie Affirms Government Commitment to Hold Referendum in the Fixed Time

 Khartoum, August 18 (SUNA) - Assistant of the President of the Republic, Dr. Nafie Ali Nafie, has affirmed the government commitment to hold the referendum of South Sudan in its fixed time as it represents one of the clauses of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA)

This came when Dr. Nafie met at the Republican Palace, Wednesday the British ambassador to Sudan. He expressed his appreciation of progress of relations between the two countries in all domains

 Khartoum, Aug. 18 (SUNA)- The Foreign Minister, Ali Karti, Wednesday received the American envoy for Sudan, Scott Gration, and discussed impediments facing the referendum and the efforts for reaching a solution for Darfur issue under the new strategy in this regard

In a press statement, Karti said that his talks with the American envoy were focused on Darfur issue and the referendum of south Sudan and ways to surpass a number of controversial issues

Germany appreciates Sudan Role for Release of German Humanitarian Workers

Khartoum, August 17 (SUNA)- Germany has appreciated the government of
Sudan over the release of three Germans humanitarian workers last
month. The three Germans were abducted in Darfur by an armed group.
Receiving a message from the German counterpart through the German
ambassador to Khartoum, Foreign Minister Ali Karti said the government
of Sudan is responsible for humanitarian workers and is exerting great
efforts to protect them.
